My 2006 Subaru Tribeca is my everyday car. I’ve always had a vehicle that I could comfortably use every day. I’ve used and abused it a few times over the years. I drove it to the mechanic only once, and the mechanic told me that I need to get it in the shop again. That was the second time I’ve ever driven it. The first time I drove it was on the day I was born.
I dont know why, but Ive always remembered that moment. It’s the one that I remember the most. I was driving with my mother in a car with seatbelts and steering wheel. We were on the way to the shop and I remember how scared I was. I was just a little kid, and I remember that I thought my car was going to die. My mom screamed at me that its not going to die, I need to be ready to die.
I remember that my mother looked into the rearview mirror and said, “You know that car is going to die.” I remember that I was so scared that I started to cry. I still remember that moment and even though I’m far older and don’t drive, I still think about that moment for days.
I think the reason I still remember that moment is because it was the same moment that I was so scared of my car that I started to cry.
We think the car is going to die, but we don’t know for sure. That is the nature of fear. We know it’s going to die, but we don’t know for sure it will die. That’s the nature of fear. It’s never going to stop. It’s always going to be there.
